Additional 2.5" line deployed by E-11 crew and 3 additional 1 3/4" lines deployed, 2 of which were deployed in the unburned living space by E-1 and E-38 crews. 2.5" lines were redirected to the exterior and 2 - 1 3/4" lines were assigned to interior operations. The heavy fire involvement of the garage and subsequent roof collapse prompted a temporary evacuation of interior crews for a quick reassessment of conditions. Interior crews advised that they could make an aggressive attack by pulling ceilings and attacking the fire in the attic space. This was done with E-38 and E-1 crews, significant advancement was made on the fire by utilizing the interior attack. After approximately 90 minutes a code 4 was advised and crews started the salvage and overhaul faze of the fire.

History
  History

Andover Fire and Rescue as we know it today was founded in 1955 as the Bruno Township Fire District. A small group of citizens saw a need for fire protection and formed the department. A year later Butler County began establishing Fire Districts and Bruno Township becameButler County Fire District #1.

In that same year the department purchased their first Engine which was the first for the County and is still with us today. Jack Belford was nominated as the first Fire Chief and his picture is hanging on the wall in the hallway just outside the training room door.

In 1958 mutual aide agreements were signed by Butler County Fire Districts # 1, 2 and 3 along with Sedgwick County Fire District # 1. This enabled the departments to call on each other for assistance at no cost and improved the safety for on scene personnel. These agreements all
though modified are still used today.

In 200
3 Butler County Fire District 1 became the Andover Fire and Rescue Department. This enabled the department to continue to grow and maintain the level of service the citizens have come to expect.

In 2005 the department went through another ISO (Insurance Services Office) inspection and
was able to achieve a 3/10 rating for the district. Which equals a significant savings to home and business owners in Andover and Bruno
Township.

Andover Fire and Rescue has been fortunate to have the backing of the citizens, local city/county governments and a professional staff to maintain a level of service and keep up with the growth of the area.
